 restored xt
had to take a pic of this on the way home but dont like the way the pipe was done

lot of effort and $$$ spent there, nice I remember thinking the same thing rocket about the exhaust on these bikes, a mate of mine back in the late 80's had one of these... I remember there was a pipe joint under the right footpeg where the header joined with the pipe section and it always came apart in rough terrain, real annoying trait. These things were a bit like kettles to ride....not much happened until the mid to top revs kicked in and then it really started to get a head of steam up and go like the clappers.

I have a mate that rides the trails on one of those, a 200, he had another before that, 125 i think. All i can think of is "The great escape".

Bugger all money involved, parts, new, are extremely cheap. My made bougnt a new piston, rings as well as valves and a few other bits and the total didnt even crack $50.

To buy that 500 in that condition you would be paying $8000.00 around about.If it was original colours and exhaust may be more.$1350.00 brand new with rego. back in the day.(all prices are a rough guess)
